Not only are there actual Nazis in this administration, not only does the whole team traffic in anti-Semitic tropes and slurs, but the pressure on universities about anti-Semitism has zero to do with anti-Semitism and everything to do with them justifying their attacks on academic freedom.

You also see it in the cuts to scientific research, shutting down agencies that support libraries and museum, pressure on the Smithsonian, taking over the Kennedy Center, and MAGA attacks on teaching the truth about US history, evolution and more. It is pernicious. It is widespread. It is spreading.

And if we treat each separate incident as if it were isolated or merely a difference of political opinion or in the case of the pressure on universities about "anti-Semitism" as having some grounding in a defensible idea we're only going to give them further license to strip away our core freedoms.

Totally agree. These aren’t isolated issues, they’re part of a broader authoritarian push. We need to name the racism, censorship, and attacks on truth or they’ll keep gaining ground unchecked.
