We must non-violently stop work the following weekend 3/22-3/23 for 48 hours, to coincide with protesting. We must shut down all flights, manufacturing, transportation, trucking, emergency response, hospitals, state and local government. We must shut down the country!
Here's why: "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."-Francis Wilhoit
My thoughts exactly. 'If' I were to be in such a position that ignoring a judge's ruling was a possibility, do you think I would be able to get away with it? I have precedence-the FOTUS does it. Where is law and order now?
Sara, Amen! I am appalled and very concerned and angry. How can the judiciary branch hold Trump accountable!!! Please help me understand what is the next step for WE THE PEOPLE!!
Well, that's the million dollar question! The answer is that there's 2 tiers of justice: 1 for trump and other rich folks and another for the general population.
And therein lies the danger of what Trump does. It weakens the justice system and the constitution until it doesn’t matter any more. He’s been tearing the democracy apart for 10 years now.
Fuck it. I'm teaching my kids to only follow the laws you want. And yes do no harm not raising psychos. But fuck the law. Cops are all pussies anyway. I know I was a cop for 13 years. Cops don't follow the law. Again I was on it. Just vigilante wild west. Let's goooooo
Trump has been treated differently his whole life, unfortunately. Do you remember when he said he could kill a person on 5th Avenue in NY and he would get away with it. Also, his corrupt AG Pam Bondi is the absolute worst.
100% this. He can defy court orders as "official acts" in his capacity as POTUS and he can't be held to account. He has nearly unlimited power. The only way to stop him is if GOP politicians draw the line but they won't. They're spineless.
I believe if this gets to the SCOTUS it will be denied. An "official act", in my opinion needs precedent. Trump needs to prove another President did the same thing. He can NOT make up laws!! Defying a court order has ALWAYS been punished. @normeisen.bsky.social @chrisgeidner.bsky.social
That would be great, but I won't hold my breath. We have a history of deporting criminals so that angle might play. The questions about due process and criminality of the people deported is a totally different can of worms. I don't trust most of the current SCOTUS to do the right thing...ever.
It depends if he cares enough about the people he's pardoning. Besides that, disbarrment and the effect of a contempt charge on your public record later will hurt them.
What I'm kind of looking forward to is when the arrest at the protest start happening having a conversation with whatever cop arrest me how they feel about the j6 Pardons and the fact that if I beat the crap out of them right now it's not illegal..it's tourism
It's a really good question. And I am trying to understand this. When are judges going to send marshalls to enforce their orders - isn't that the normal course of events? I don't think that I would get to pop back into court to explain my thinking - I think I'd be arrested!
The marshals fall under the executive branch, under Pam Bondi’s corrupt DOJ.
However, judges CAN deputize local officials to carry out their law enforcement orders AND judges can appoint special prosecutors to prosecute crimes by federal officials.
Yes, that’s correct. You’re right. It was super disheartening that the local police went along with the invasion of the institute of peace. But I was hearing that’s because they’re in Washington DC. Outside of Washington DC that’s far less likely to happen.

As a long time public defender I’ve wondered the same thing.
Me: Your honor, my client doesn’t feel like following your order. OK/
Judge: Yea, nah. Bailiffs, take counsel and her client into custody.
I am not as educated as this woman but I am smart enough to know she is fucking right!! No one is above the law! No one! Impeach that orange turd now!!
I can’t explain either. I grew up around cops & rules & laws mattered a lot. I still can’t make sense of why they support Trump when it goes against everything they taught me. Everything was black & white. Their narrative is the bad break the law & the good obey it.
This question did cross my mind…additionally, if ice does not need a warrant when is it deemed illegal to seize without a warrant? Or when does it become legal?
No one can take an oath to serve and protect the constitution by dismissing and ignoring the foundation of THE OATH.
Simple. He's not the leader of our country; he's the ruler of our country, a fascist dictator. Fascist dictators don't have to abide by judge's rulings.
Sadly, it is the old adage of one rule for us, and another for the rich and powerful. That law enforcement is not entirely independent in the US (although supposed to act without fear or favour), there is the fear factor of upsetting the 'boss'. The system is broken
He has no right to do what he's doing but no one who could stop him is doing so. Our puppet Congress for example. It's nothing more complicated than corruption at the highest level. We are an illegitimate country under Trump. Turn your anger into action to unseat him or accept what is.
The Rule of Law is no longer the Law of the Land--sadly it's been replaced by the Rule of Man, one man, one despicable cruel man and his MAGA henchmen.
Why do we all have to file and pay taxes when the world’s richest man pays zero taxes while simultaneously destroying our government and selling it for parts?
If Donald Trump has immunity his DOJ does not. If Trump tells Bondi to preform a task and the court restrains that act than Bondi should be held accountable. Following orders has historically been dismissed as a defense.
Isn’t there also in that branch of law a platoon or home guard or something that obeys the constitution in the case of a rogue president?
I’m sure in my studies years ago I learnt something like that … but maybe I’m mixing it up as it’s been years but I’m hopeful it exists 🤞
Because judges dont have unlimited power, they have limited powers just like every other branch of govt. When they exceed their powers they should be ignored when they can't point to a law or part of the constitution for the reasoning for the order. Judges dont get to order whatever they want
Never said he didn't, but Congress and the Supreme Court have said the alien enemies act is not reviewable by the courts, the judge opening ignored congress and their own branch.

I hope Judge Boasberg gets right on that soon!

It’s a manufactured immunity, built on power, fear, and manipulation.
Regardless, the Constitution still applies to him, whether or not the system has the courage to enforce it.

Trump makes Nixon look like a Boy Scout!
Well Trump makes Nixon look like a good guy.
They can't be wrong, can they?
You’re trying to have your cake and eat it too a bit I think.
Still waiting...

And Republican LAWYERS who became Republican JUDGES
ruled for Trump!
So as a Lawyer- can you explain that ?
