I can't stand that sector of YouTube. I don't know how much of the "philanthropy" is real to begin with but baiting kids into the fake giveaways and having the fake prize gambling/ceremonies really breaks me inside.

My kids watch YouTubers that mostly make crafts or dissect Pokemon games, and I’m like holy cow, I should have been a YouTuber. I can obsess about a single game for a couple of years if it’ll make me a million dollars. Then I realize, from my kid’s reactions to me, I’d probably fail at it hard.

The reaction of your own kids isn't indicative of how all kids will feel. Children are biologically programed to believe their parents are uncool. Celebrities like Robert Downey Jr and I think Chris Hemsworth have told stories about their kids thinking they're embarassing them.

My kid isn’t very into Mr Beast, but she’s aware of him. And trying to explain why it’s not great is kind of hard! Forcing people to do these things == obviously bad but they have a harder time with “he’s taking advantage of their desperation”. Probably because [gestures broadly at everything].
