Interesting about the military housing. Privatised, running costs increased hugely, condition of housing falls drastically. So presumably this amounted to a scam like the English water boards with huge profits and high salaries for the already rich shareholders and executives.

All good moves but put in the shade by the ineptness of other policies and omissions in the brief period that Labour has been in office while trying to sort out the Tory mess. They have given the media gifts in the shape of the two-child cap, the winter fuel allowance and the WASPI decision.

All we hear is they are robbing pensioners and ruining the farming industry in the media. They seam to forget that most pensioners didn’t need the fuel allowance and most of the farms affected are owned by millionaire land owners to avoid tax!

Try https://entitledto.org and run a calculation. Most pensioners on state pension don’t realise they can claim reduced council tax, money towards rent etc. I did one with my mum, she can claim £400 a month and her pension is more than £12k per year

A lot of good things here. But does prove that the government needs to really step up its comms, as they have been overly cautious and then put on the backfoot by some media coverage recently (on occasions because of their comms strategy or perhaps lack of an effective one).

Their comms need to be harder hitting, contrast their approach with the previous government and really show how people benefit. Brief the people doing the media rounds more effectively. And really pull up journalists who try to point score or trivialise things. Make them look foolish for a change.

Completely agree. They currently have a big comms problem. I don’t think Starmer is the right person to deliver the big picture messages either. They should consider another more effective spokesperson.
