Mostly forgotten now, sure.
But it struck a nerve at the time. Not just top 10, it got in the top FIVE hits of the year. And did so by speaking to a different audience than the other four.
Maybe she's hoping to reach today's equivalent of that audience.

I think I still have Sweet Liberty in my vhs collection. I really want to see that again and I saw it finally available to rent so I might do that. Bob Hoskins was fun in it.
