"The 'Doom Scroll', likely named in reference to the Domesday Book, was a document containing an aggregation of news and information across the world, though its purpose was not as clear as that of the Domesday book, as it seemingly lacked relevant survey data and instead made everyone sad."
We really should just start carving messages for future historians in stones or some other long lasting material, explaining (and maybe apologizing for) all the stuff they have to study for things to make sense.
Oh god, they probably will. IF the internet somehow still exists, boy will we either look cooler then we actually are, or we're going to look like utter fools.
We'd be the first generation to tell historians in the future what some of our slang is actually like. "Doomscrolling is not cool. You're probably looking for DoomGuy. Just play Doom if you still have it."
3025 Anthropologists: "The endeavour to integrate 'Doom' into all aspects of technology demonstrates its deep religious significance to early 21st century cultures..."
This is what we get with the anonymous longsword source 3227a where the author describes "death dancers." That sounds rad. Except, what the author is saying is that these "death dancers" do pretty shit that will get you killed in a sword fight and that you should listen to him instead.
