5. Bourne End was a small settlement along a stream, while wood pasture at Crawley was frequented by crows (maybe rooks cawing from their nests in summer?).
6. Wharley was another -leah, wood pasture like that at Crawley. This time 'dirty', perhaps because it lay on the highest boulder clays, claggy in wet weather.
