Eavesdropping has always been compelling, but itβs new to have it be happening at scale.
And itβs easy to forget how many people are listening, which can make it kind of fraught.
The important meeting was at the bar where the leads for the two largest companies went to drink after dinner. Millions of dollars were tied up in those talks. Printed copies in the morning and a vote on the bar talk.
Best I've ever seen: Alfred Bester (and I say that with all respect to Harlan Ellison, another A+ raconteur). The guy could hold an audience rapt for hours.
