The quickest way to a man’s heart is to insert a needle between the xiphoid process and left costal margin at a 15-to-30-degree angle, directed towards the left shoulder

There is no place in the body one cannot reach with a needle, but the trick for me is to do what is necessary with the person awake and conversing the whole time. Done correctly, they are still happy to talk to you afterwards (true of many pursuits, upon reflection).
Had that done, while unsedated and not numbed. I’d say 0/10 stars, do not recommend, except it saved my life. So, there’s that. 🤣🤣🤣 I laughed out loud, for real, at your post.
I also had that done (cardiac epinefrine while having an MCAS induced cardiorrespiratory arrest with endocardiac edema). Unsedated but in deep brain fog, I didn't feel a thing, I remember being amazed that that was painless. Just felt pain after recovering a bit.
I think the pain I felt was probably from the artery bleed/ cardiac tamponade more than the needle. I imagine you’re right about deep brain fog/shock numbing you. Scary stuff!!
Yes, in my case it was just the needle (& sheer luck: the doctor didn't knew about the edema, it showed, already draining from the needle puncture, in the exams later, it was supposed to be a simple cardiorespiratory arrest by anaphlaxis). Sorry you felt pain, happy you're alive.
a) ideally that's just the quickest way to *near* the heart
b) angle deeper (30-45°). I don't know why it's taught this way. What you don't want to do is cannulate the RV which is on top. Go to the OR and look at the anatomy

❤️ The spark that makes the heart flutter is best lit in the right atrium at the level of the tricuspid valve annulus.
Happy Valentines Day from Maine, funny guy.
