I truly thought I would hate this game. Launched busted. Hated the demo.
Then I sat down with it a few years ago and have played it 3 times since. Incredible cast, immersive as hell world, satisfying gameplay, beautiful melancholy story. Just adore it to bits.
I had to return in back in the day because it Refused to run on my ps4 as anything but nausea-inducing smudge. I was having thoughts to try it again on pc this time, but haven't gotten around yet.
This game basically got me through a year of college. Later entries have added more nuanced characters and fleshed out social dynamics (and will probably pop up later) but the combo of Just Fun Enough archetypes, snappy strategy and DoFP-style story all hooked me HARD
I've been playing this game on and off for 20 years. That's not something I can say about any other video game on the planet. It's a comfort food. A cozy blanket. A world I know like the back of my hand full of characters that feel like old friends.
I played this game in one sitting. From, like, 8 PM right through 5 or 6 AM. It was one of the most singular, emotional experiences playing a game I've ever had and despite absolutely loving this game I am genuinely unsure I ever want to play it again because of that.
I mean, it's BG3. What can I possibly say that hasn't been said a thousand times over. Set a new bar for depth and narrative variety in RPGs, has one of the most fascinating and beautifully performed casts of any game, it's a damn masterpiece. Also Karlach is my wife.
Wooo! Same here and classic (redux as I call it) refreshed my internet by releasing old expansions as progression servers has been so fun since I converted in 2021 just before TBC re-launched

But I'd definitely recommend it, I think you'd really dig the messy ass characters

The most pure multi-player experience you'll ever find
I've had matches run almost an entire hour and had a blast every single second of it
