The DOD budget is $850b, with about 1/3 of it spent on personnel costs. The VA budget has increased by 680% as a result of the post-9/11 wars to reach almost $330b/yr. That’s a lot of cash… about 35% of ALL discretionary spending goes to pay for the AVF. So no wonder they’re taking a look. 2/
