What I would give for all the people to work on this to focus on what LLMs are good at and not what they are forever incapable of doing.

People use the term "fancy autocorrect" to describe them derogatorily. But that's what they are! That's what they're good at! Let's let them be super good at it!

ChatGPT deep search is a great example of how letting it do what it is good at, better works really well, AND ALSO is not even in the same solar system as AGI. I'm sure we'll get examples of ridiculous results, and I'm not sure it's worth the extra energy cost, but it's useful in principle.

I knew someone was going to “something something emergence” me on this. Maybe there’s some way of artificially producing emergence but I don’t think LLMs will be it.

On the other hand, I never would have thought fancy neural nets would get this far
