We were ALL blindsided by the weakening of the jetstream (bc of decreasing of temp contrast between the hottest & the coldest areas)... Which has been causing these lingering weather events and intensification of storms bc the jetstreams aren't moving them along.

Ultimately, this is the most important issue. The climate crisis should be top of mind for literally everyone, and the fact that it's not and we keep getting distracted is absolute stupidity. We need to hold the powers that be accountable for this right now, as much as possible.

Climate change is like that. The earth has a huge thermal mass. It took a long time to add enough energy (heat) to fill up that reservoir. But now that it’s almost full, even small changes of similar magnitudes to prior events can blow the whole thing up.

I can attest to that. Gere in Palm Springs we broke a record for consecutive days of 110 and higher as well as number of days over 100 in total. Although shutdown summer of 2020 showed up with 120 degree days, as if it were Death Valley. Oh, and Death Valley now hits 130, but yeah it's all a hoax.
