Nasa has made concept calculations of a sky city in the Venus upper atmosphere and it has basically the same environment as Earth just we'd have to live in Sky cities which is BAD ASS so even if they aren't lying we should be aiming for Venus
I inevitably think of the @themountaingoats.bsky.social line “on Venus it rains sulfuric acid / and the raindrops evaporate before they hit the ground” I promise it’s catchy when sung
I was literally just talking this morning about why we are spending so much time theorizing about life on mars when we could be dumping bacteria on venus and seeing what happens
Swim 500' down and feel that pressure, then consider venus again at 500°, without amenities or power, and try to homestead...
It would make more sense to live on a boat in the sky on venus surfing the atmosphere than to populate the planet. This is objectively more absurd than Mars (also absurd).
Not ever had that occurred, to my knowledge. Though it should be said that optimism is admirable. Might be better applied elsewhere, though, where the subject can be influenced and isn't immutable like physical laws.
I mean technically you are right Venus would be easier to terraform since it already has an atmosphere. It would also require removal of CO2 from the atmosphere so it would be useful technology here as well.
