Hi Mary - can you shed some light? To the best of my knowledge, there is de facto compulsion on all children to be vaccinated against common diseases to access childcare or schooling in Ontario.

To the best of my knowledge, unless the government has changed the rules, measles is mandatory.

This is a complicated issue, Prachi, because we have an absurd ‘exemption’ for conscience that allows parents to not vaccinate if they watch a video. Yes, a VIDEO.

It’s far too easy to get around those rules. I never thought that I would read that we can no longer count on herd immunity. We don’t even have those rules in Quebec, but students and teachers can be forced to choose between staying at home for the duration of an outbreak or getting vaccinated.

Unfortunately some GP’s are gatekeeping vaccines. That was my issue. 6 months of asking, being turned away for a booster, grudgingly offered a titre test. Only then offered a booster

My Dr. also asked for the titre test before I can get another dose. Trying to get that done asap since I apparently live in a high risk area 😓

About 15 years ago, when going to see a new doctor, she had me get the titre test even though I had been vaccinated as a child. I had to be vaccinated again.

Makes sense to me! My brother and I had measles when we were young in Africa. I had two doses of the vaccine, so I spiked a fever for an hour and my body did exactly what it was trained to do and shut it down. My brother was a toddler and had one dose. He was very ill and hospitalized for a week.
