I got the cheapie* Walmart special Macbook Air with the M1 chip last year and I think it’s great. (They’re on, what, M4 now? Don’t feel I’m missing anything.)
*you know, compared to regular Apple Store prices.
I switched from a Pro to an Air because I couldn’t justify the cost and didn’t need that much computer. The Air is great and still more computer than I need.
Look at any comment section on a YouTube video for Mac Air M1 reviews, and near 100% of them are thrilled with their purchase. I got a used 512gb/16GB M1 model on eBay to upgrade from a 2019 Pro - an Intel model - and it’s _so_ much faster, and it doesn’t make a sound. A remarkable machine
I use a Pro through work and own an Air and aside from the ports (which are negligible ‘cause you can get dongles for anything) I’d never be able to tell the difference between what they can do. Highly recommend the Air.
MacBook Airs are great and always what I’ve used. My 2017 one only recently gave up the ghost after I spilled olive oil on it 😂. Replaced it with a secondhand 2020 M1 one (which was the significant upgrade apparently), super speedy, light… For my needs it’s just perfect.
