Can’t wait to hear the names! I recall a feral flock at a Maui farm named Cordon Blue, Colonel, Kiev (appropriate for the times), Fingers, Soup, and more.
I have one chicken and two ducks left from the original crew.
They will be thirteen this spring.
The chicken has decided she's a roo and crows.
The ducks shocked us with 2 eggs last year.
Thank you for bringing up the expense of raising chickens and that they live much longer than the 5-7 years
Three of ours are 8 years old. One of them is laying every day. The other two are probably about 4. It’s very expensive if you do it right so they can actually survive to live this long. Ppl don’t know they don’t lay when they’re molting or when the days get short.
She may as well have just said, “I don’t care about the people who can’t afford to eat. I don’t care about the farmers losing their flocks and livelihoods. I really don’t care…”
I am lucky enough to have the space to have chicken and a vegetable garden.
But, I have enough common sense to know most people don't have the money, space or the time.
I worry about the bird flu every day now that they think it can be airborne.
I keep a small flock in my backyard. Not expensive. They love to eat the compost and my Grandson loves to watch them. They are enclosed in a fenced in yard with a roof and do not mingle with wild birds. We get about 2 dozen eggs a week. Not for everyone, but they are lots of fun!🙂
Well that is the answer to the egg crisis. Everyone buy a fucking chicken. But I live in a second story walk up. Tell me does that chx still smell nice.

I'm going back to look at the chicks and put a smile back on my face.

They need itsy-bitsy hats 🎩 🐓🐣🐥
I think Amelia is a good name for a chick🐥😉
OK, I know will make me sound weird, but I love the smell of baby chicks in the sawdust under heat lamps. It makes me very happy and relaxed.
My Little man is going to love seeing the baby chicks when he’s back from school!!
Well, except for yesterday. And the previous 62 days before that.
