It's underbaked and lacks energy despite some nice aesthetics. I pop it on every few years.. unlike Hellfire which I absolutely adore.

It's a fun little shooter with an INCREDIBLE OST. Toaplan always had great tunes.

I like it more than these reviews but I can't disagree with them either. There are many better hori shooters and several other better ones from Toaplan as well.

If the game is bang average it should be a 5/10. Giving an average game an above average score (7/10) is something I'll never understand

It deserves at least a 6 for the absolutely bonkers credits sequence alone.

Other than that, it's pretty decent.

Zero Wing is the kind of game that is just serviceable there really isn't anything that sets it too far apart from other shumps but the meme of it all helps it stand out.

It's a lesser Toaplan shmup, which makes it still a solid piece of work. I also like it but don't love it.

Their other hori, Hellfire, is better though.

I never got the point of the grabby beam mechanic, it feels like a weaker, prior iteration of Gaiares' TOZ.

Nice gfx, great music though. There's just not enough there to really make me want to soldier all the way through.

A pretty unmemorable and generic SHMUP with nothing really too iconic besides that one kick-ass track we all know.

Oh, and it had that weird thing where you if you beat the game 35 times in a row, you would get a different end message and unlock Debug mode after the final one.
So... Get to work xD
