"Instead of traditional classroom teachers, the school will employ 'guides,' who won't teach students academics but will instead ... point them to the right video explanation"
This is what they mean when they say AI won't *replace* teachers - it'll *deprofessionalize* them

Lots of education *innovation* coming - like this new virtual charter school in Arizona that will use AI in place of teachers www.azcentral.com/story/news/l...

people who currently can't afford an education might be able to get something rather than nothing?
just playing devil's advocate here. obviously, if all schools go this route, that would be very, very bad. 😔
for context, I've been studying online since July - and it's definitely not great, but at $45 a month, it's better than anything else I'd have access to.
I'm not saying this is anywhere near good enough to replace schools, but I've learned a lot - it's better than nothing.
as I'm going on 50, there are no real options now besides online courses and chat bots - but it's not terrible and tbh I'll take what I can get. 😌
there are options for adults here, they offer short courses of 3-4 weeks to update or supplement your knowledge, and skilled labor training for people who want to leave their field entirely.
neither applies to me, so I have to do it my own way. just how the system works here.
but nothing like that will happen under Trump - things will get worse in the next 4 years, before US politicians will even be able to *try* to make them better. 😔
are they looking to improve access to education for the poor? would that be bad?
or are they looking to make big profits by undercutting teachers?
and how do you make people more stupid by giving them access to learn something rather than nothing?
I understand the moral contention of second rate education for the poor. That's awful. If your rich paid taxes, you'd have no problems funding education for all. 😔
it does seem irresponsible to me that the supervisors they'll have on staff won't be teachers. no teachers at all on premises. in a "school" 🤨
on the other hand, the virtual "coach" on Coursera is quite frustrating at times - and was designed to teach.
I think maybe people can be taught to use chat bots effectively
anyone willing to put in work to improve the world should have access to food, housing and education.
in the US however? my socialist views are seen as communist. not a chance. 😔
would it be better to go another 4 years with access to nothing? just on a principle?
No way an LLM has figured out which videos don't just leave out things that " go without saying" or are really just ads for a product you can use in the procedure or...
