I just went through the process of getting my passport in Colorado. From ordering my birth certificate to getting an appt to finally getting my passport, it took 17 weeks, and everything cost in excess of $200. All in preparation of the SAVE Act passing. This is ridiculous.

I will have to get a new ID. I am lucky that I have the appropriate proof of citizenship. Getting copies of something like you birth certificate is not always easy. My husband or his mother had to physically go to the local registrar’s office. We lived 10 hours away.

They will have to have documents that show how they got from their birth name to current name which could mean supplying marriage certificates and divorce papers if they’ve been married more than once. This could become costly and place an undue burden on women.

In some sense, it isn't difficult at all. I registered to vote when I got a driver's license. I have a voter registration card. And I usually vote by mail. Nobody comes to my house to check my birth certificate before I do. I sign that I'm me on the envelope, boom.

I got my legal ID when renewing DL . I paid 30$ , all information on internet of what you need to have. A woman needs birth certificate plus your marriage license copy to show change of name. I had to get death certificate for my husband passed away, the certificates of it cost me 10$.

I became an American citizen in 2007 after 10 years with a green card. The year I was born, the RC church forced parents to name all their female children “Mary”. That’s what’s on my birth certificate in front of my real name. I have NEVER used it. All my ID for voting is under my real name.
