Escalators are incredibly dangerous for dogs, as their fur easily could get caught in the seams between the steps as they’re running. Glad this beautiful dog’s owner does this, but they should be looking for the elevator instead.
The grooves in an escalator steps are right about the perfect size for dog nails to get stuck in, and then you're in for a bad time and serious injury when you reach the end of the escalator.
Which makes me wonder about Guide Dogs - reading up, some can be trained to use escalators (especially if wearing booties to protect their paws), but it's usually recommended to use lifts/elevators and stairs instead if possible.
There’s a rule about approved well maintained escalators, for example the London Underground which can’t be avoided and also escalators can be stopped but generally Guide Dogs do not use escalators
Elevators are safe. they have dozens of sensors on them and if any of them sneeze it'll stop and let you off and take itself out of service. Or stairs. Stairs are cool, too.
Their haircut with the pom pom things and floofs evolved from the poodle's days as a hunting dog/retriever. The hair corresponds to joints they needed to keep warm, like the hips. They are in dog shows in that hair cut, but do something simpler for street wear hahaha
That’s actually really smart, if not vital preventative training - reduce the risk of pupper getting her paws or fur or the leash caught in the mechanism.
V wise. Dogs and escalators shouldn't mix. I once saw a bunch of firemen stop one and take it apart to free a chihuahua whose toenails got caught at the bottom.
My dog freaks out if we're out walking and someone's trash can is out of place, so I get it. The whole Christmas decorations thing has been quite a challenge. 🤣😂
Glad it was almost, and parents are the worst, dragging baby carriages up them with coats hanging off the side…and an untied shoe can turn into a real quick disaster: we added skirt brushes to keep Moises from dragging their shoes down the sides which reduces accident where your feet get dragged in.
