i’ve been told by someone i trust that feral hog meat is usually not worth the effort. apparently it spoils really quickly if you don’t get it on ice immediately 🤷🏻♀️
...they are incorrect, there is absolutely nothing about hogs that makes them more prone to meat spoilage than any other animal. However many people incorrectly assume that boar taint is spoilage from improper handling.
I'd take six or eight pounds. No room in the freezer for more. Butchering hogs is a pain, my family always got a fella to do it in exchange for getting to keep some of the meat
