The 80s and 90s had the best makeup, by far. I had ‘universal’ extras in my purse if a party happened — 2 or 3 pairs of earrings, lipstick/gloss, eye liner/lip liner, concealer/powder, hair ties, a bandana, perfume. Me & my ladies were covered. Makeup was easier then! :/
I’ve always been about the classic red lips/black mascara/pale skin look so my makeup routine hasn’t changed much. Started with being slightly gothy in the ‘80s. Also: never stopped wearing black Mary Janes.
Food stalls selling kudos bars and SoBe drinks, craft booths full of puka necklaces and hackeysacks, the joust show is just two dudes playing Mario Kart
I would love this, because I was 3 years old then, and lived in ND which lags behind on trends, so I feel like my childhood was a strange mix of 80s a decade late plus 90s and Internet culture hitting all at once. would be really cool to see 1986 through my adult eyes.
The closest I know of is the iconic #RadWood, car show in the USA & UK based on the Goodwood revival style, but 1980s & 90s themed instead. Bring a retro car, or just visit without one, dress up in 80s/90s clothing (prizes available), DJ in attendance. Pics from last few UK RadWood events!
It's very Three's Company back there, very Saturday Night Fever. Soundtrack by Cheap Trick, Bob Marley, Billy Joel. Just the faintest wisps of punk in the air.
Many people feeling comfortable and finally safe with Jimmy Carter, but the pre-Tea-party/pre-maga/post-kkk stewing in hatred & anger.
I rode my bike all over town, everywhere, for miles. Have very fond memories of a lumber yard we pedaled around in and the kid lore that we believed as fact about it. Raced trains, incredibly stupid, can't believe that I wasn't pasted at least 1-2 times.
King Tut had just been here (waited in line 3x at the Field Museum before we saw it), people were demanding their rights, good music of multiple genres, great films for a decade running, kooky times, like everyone seeing UFOs even our President. People could afford to live. The environmental decade

High Water Mark for Canada, from my perspective anyhow. I was 10, my second World's Fair. It was glorious. 🇨🇦 🍁
That's really about all I did. I turned 21 that summer.
GRUNNNNNGE.
I'll take the 80s too;
VCRs were the hot buy, music was decent,
PRE cell phones, no email,
no internet....the last decade of analog life.

Fuckin perspective can be a blessing and a curse
