For most of the past 10 years, it has been 5e with Call of Cthulhu in the #2 spot. But for the past year or so, Pathfinder 2e has taken the top spot. We’re having a blast.

Smallville/Cortex Prime does the stuff I love most in rpgs. It mechanizes social conflict in a way that deepens characters and asks players to consider the value and relationships of their characters. Once it gets rolling, as a GM I can sometimes pretty much sit out.

(I've played more, but those were the dominant games during various eras!)

Yeah. I've pulled back on multisystem play these days. I occasionally run Cyberpunk RED or Call of Cthulhu when I'm inspired, but I'm just having so much fun exploring my version of Greyhawk. (So many years now in the setting!)

Good list.
I still adore Star Wars D6, but I’m playing more 5e than any other game I’ve played.

No, very different engine built by Victory Games. Unusual system where your skill score was multiplied by a DC to give your % chance of success, with different quality levels of success.

So 21 skill with DC 4 gave 84% chance of success.

If i'm signing up for a 5-year campaign with a perfect GM and group, and i get to choose the game, I'm picking Numenera or a 2d20 game (Dune or Star Trek).

If group composition is less "perfect", probably 5e, because I can entertain myself more in it.

my problem here is that it's hard to separate the nostalgia from the game. my best memories of roleplaying were late-stage 2nd edition AD&D and early stage 3rd edition D&D. But that part of my life was full of gaming. The nostalgia is strong.

The game I've gone back to time and time again is D&D (in whatever edition), because I enjoy it, it scratches the itch I have, and I've played a lot of other games.
