ok so %'tage is not out of 100, but only those that voted, the voter turnout was 44% last election. Multiply all %'s by 44%. Ford is "winning" with a 19.8% vote of registered voters. FPTP: 45(winner) vs 27 vs 18 vs 6. Or 45 vs 27+18+6(51) if coalition. We need more NDP candidates to drop

Polls I've seen show wider Cons lead if only "likely" voters counted. Coalition idea is interesting, but non-linear in practice. Some centrist Libs will sooner vote Cons than NDP if no Lib option. Ditto for some Greens. NDP would have to be the dropouts, but then some voters just won't show up.

nothing is 100% especially in voting. Accidental Coalition is now up by two, Windsor West forgot or didn't bother vet a Liberal candidate so that is open for a NDP win, and Eg-Law with the NDP dropout is open for a Liberal win. A swing of around 4000 votes each will subtract two seats from Ford

Windsor West is already NDP and has been for years. The Cons gained votes there at the expense of the Libs, who have cratered over the last three elections. If anything, the absence of a Lib candidate gives the Cons a shot at stealing a seat from the NDP that would otherwise be out of reach.

As for Eglinton-Lawrence, Marit is pissed that the dropout timed her move to prohibit nominating a replacement. There is little to no evidence of appetite for a governing coalition. The Libs under Bonnie are ideologically closer to Ford than they are to Marit. Ford's loss is Bonnie's gain.

this is what happened in BC and NB. One party didn't run allowing the progressive vote to win. But not in Ontario, we have too many parties splitting too many votes for our votes to matter in too few ridings. FPTP can't handle it

Other NDP candidates who also haven't a chance should drop out. Where LIBNDPGRN are typically leading in safe ridings they should keep running there. CPC soft support from split votes can subtract from Ford seats. They're not going to win anyway, best to drop out and stop vote splitting

Like as is often the case, Schreiner is head of the wrong party. He's the smartest of them all. It's too bad, really. I'm not sure looking at the numbers - it would take Libs, NDP, Green...to displace Ford. And...I don't want him as a minority, I want him out.
