BREAKING NEWS OVERNIGHT!
Another Executive Order Signed replacing the US Constitution at the National Archives with the Project 2025 Handbook and Guide.
Make no mistake, this is a goal. A full third of the people want this, another third doesn't, and another third doesn't yet care.
Rubenstein the billionaire chair of the Kennedy Center who loaned his 1790 copy of the Bill of Rights to a National Archives special exhibit on civil rights, fired!
He's already purchased a Project 2025 first printing so his great grandchildren have a historic collectible to remember him by? 🙏🗽📜🤨
Rebecca Solnit posted an incredible interview today about the power of regular people and community groups banding together in broad-based coalition to create social movements.
Playbook. Hope.
No, I don’t agree. I don’t want anyone to take sides just for the sake of it, because I don’t want uninformed people to represent my opinion and give my adversary ammunition to change the topic and discredit my stance. You should NOT take sides when you’re uninformed.
Always do your best to be informed. By not being informed you do every bit as much harm through apathy or lack of desire to learn why you should take a side. Always stand up for what is morally correct.
Which is why I disagree with your quote. Being informed is crucial, but telling people to automatically take sides weakens the cause. “Always do your best to be informed” is utopian, many who take a stance haven’t, and we shouldn’t encourage them to take sides.
I lost respect for Elie Wiesel when he gave a talk at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada, when I used to work there in the early 2000s. He drew a tremendous crowd. And he said a lot of good things. But he also said that the only people for which forgiveness was not possible were the Palestinians
I’m sorry he said that but we have to remember what he had witnessed and lived through. That would affect anyone in terms of views. I hate what has happened in Gaza to the children especially. Trumps recent comments are horrific and need condemnation.
Criticizing the state of Israel, especially as it is run by Netanyahu is not the same as criticizing Judaism. It is not anti-Semitic. In fact, as is mentioned here, many of Netanyahu's actions are blatant contradictions of Jewish values. Netanyahu doesn't want peace. He's a warmonger like the US.
Living through genocide and oppression does not excuse repeating the cycle. When we Jews say, *Never again" it means just that. Never again, no matter where, no matter when. Wiesel became a fascist in his later years and that's the lesson we should take away from his tragic life.
I also agree with this. There are no exceptions. No one gets to commit genocide. And for sure, no asshole president gets to ask a people to leave their own country so that a Riviera can be created where they used to live, in their Homeland. This is sickening
I think it's important to remember that what has happened in Gaza happened throughout Palestine and Elie Wiesel was most definitely aware of it happening yet had never spoken out on it.
If he said it, at all, it would likely be significantly influenced by the Second Intifada and seeing suicide bombers blow up buses, nightclubs, university cafeterias
It is unfortunate that whenever it looks like a peace deal might be within reach, Hamas steps in with a campaign of suicide
bombings. They did it in the 90s and got Netanyahu his first term (96-98), they did it after the Clinton parameters were offered (and in the Second Intifada, the PLO joined in). Ditto 2008.
Trump's comments are insane, they are also so far beyond what even Netanyahu wants, even Bibi was shocked
So check the sources if he even said that, and keep in mind Trump holds a grudge against Bibi and maybe knew saying something so far right even Likud wouldn't support it but Ben Gvir would is something that undermines Bibi
Sometimes one can learn valuable things from the Bible; for instance, God doesn't tolerate "fence sitters." Christians are not to be lukewarm, else, says God, "I will spew them out of My mouth."
eh, what the heck do I know

It's immensely hypocritical to cry perpetually for one genocide while cheering for today's genocide.
Fortunately there are jews who call a spade a spade.
