I get what you mean, but I wouldn't exactly call software "timeless". If anything, obsolescence is much worse on the software side. Most software you don't even own, you just own a license.
Then there's the need for patches for hardware compatibility, security risks, performance degradation, etc.
Eh, a lot of that can be solved with a battery swap.
Lower battery health really is a decent reason for the phone to drop it’s clock rate - but whenever they publish comparisons between the two you gotta remember that the old phone is running slower than it used to.
Windows does the same and they are making it VERY hard to stay on windows 10. I know people who have never upgraded their MacOS and it's not a problem. I face a lot of problems staying on Windows 10, they are CONSTANTLY finding little ways to sneak in Copilot. This is why linux is gaining popularity
I've uninstalled Copilot 4 TIMES FROM WINDOWS 10. My girlfriend once went 6 years without upgrading her Mac, and while that eventually caused a problem, I could not go a year without something going wrong that requires me to update Windows, drivers, Windows, drivers, drivers, and drivers.

$90 to get one replaced by Apple is still horseshit tho, ofc
