Thanks for the great insightful article. More NBA players need to speak out against the racism that is resurgent in America and encouraged by the racist in chief in the White House. I read Go Up For Glory. Great book. Of note, Russell also wrote Second Wind which is even better. Great legendary man!

It's a shame (and a betrayal against all minority groups) that players like LeBron, Dame and Giannis, who were very active during the "Black Lives Matter" movements since 2020, are still quiet about Trump, Musk etc. And where's NBPA now? Nobody wants to honor Russell's legacy as it should.

It’s a reflection of the times. Russell wasn’t out there by himself. He was part of a movement. MLK, Ali, Jim Brown, Malcolm. Today’s movement seems to be about “me” & making contributions as an individual.
