Considering my less than enthusiastic attitude towards school, I now find myself a man in his 40’s who loves to learn new things. My knowledge is admittedly pretty limited on lots of subjects, but the enthusiasm is there. Currently very much enjoying this book. Good chat

Beard is great and does a great job focusing on the “history is written by the winners” aspect of Rome.
it's about taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone. Success requires effort and trial and error, as relying on luck won't bring lasting results.

Just to be clear, historical caveats are necessary and good.
It is highly moderated to filter out the usual Internet slop, so you only get answers from qualified experts in their field. Also great place to determine accuracy of "pop" history books.
