BREAKING: DOJ asks SCOTUS to allow it to enforce Trump's Alien Enemies Act proclamation during appeals.

If granted, the Trump administration has said it would resume deportations of people it alleges fall under the AEA order with no notice or process.

Ugh. If the SCOTUS grants a brief administrative stay, and they rendition the 5 named plaintiffs to an El Salvadorian gulag, can they then try and dismiss the original case for mootness?

Or does the class certification prevent that?

Seeking explanation - is the issue of deportations under this Act (without any due process) being reviewed jointly or separately with consideration of the destination for these deportees (indefinite incarceration in a brutal foreign prison)? To me, the destination is far more troubling.

The government organisations in 1984 all had names opposite to their actual function. e.g. Ministry of Information worked on lies and misinformation.

I've assumed these orgs were created with those names, and those purposes under the principles of doublethink.

Now seeing what we're seeing, I think it was the other way around.

These orgs were created to provide the services as advertised. The regime took over, then subverted their purposes, and later created the term doublethink to help control the dissonance.
