companies sold off for a fraction of their worth for kickbacks to Conservatives & to try to balance the books & 👀 like they understood the economy
In truth still not paying off national debt!
Just oil and gas sell off compare to Norway who kept & used for people

One of the major factors was actually cutbacks to routine maintenance.
Mussolini made his country's trains run on thyme.
They're a burning bag of faeces
Privatisation fanatics believed the private operators could get away with hiking fares to a level they could run at a profit, and politicians wouldn't get blowback.
All infrastructure faults-track issues, signalling, points failures, flooding, trespassers etc are the responsibility of the already nationalised Network Rail.....
Successive tory governments have defunded NR
If Lab dont fund NR it wont improve
Ohh, silly me, not living in Londonshire.
Even the BBC here have had to report accurately
Half of train cancellations across the UK are down to network rail
Are you derailed?
You need to let off some steam. You're in danger of blowing your Boiler! Try a bit of Rocket, perhaps? In Stockton or Darlington!
Except Brexit. That disaster's on Johnson and Farridge.
What did the government do with that money?
He was in Birmingham last week, his public and private appearances are all public
Jus sayin🤷♂️
Network Rail is owned by the state, reporting to the Minister of Transport and all profits are reinvested into Network Rail. 👇

I do not give a fuck.
We have no public transport.
I do not care. Kill the billionaire.
Oh.. well that all worked then. 🙄
Now it’s just for people on expenses.
£90 for me to go to London (1hr 20)?
Forget it…
I'll be glad to see public ownership again, but let's be honest about the figures.
I just wrote a long rant thread and you summarised my feelings in a few words 😂 she’s fuelled by her political ideologies and it replaces all sense, logic and truth!
DEFUND, MAKE SURE THINGS DON'T WORK, PEOPLE GET ANGRY, YOU HAND IT OVER TO PRIVATE CAPITAL.
NOAM CHOMSKY.
was no better but at least it was cheaper fir being bad. We have no ambition in this country.
#MaggiesInTheMud
If you want to help talk about the price of utilities.
I’m not sure they always would.
New lines in Scotland and south Wales. Ashington line just reopened in the North East in the last week.
Rail is on the edge of an unstoppable boom.
Sacking engineers increased profits meaning bigger payouts for shareholders.
The Johnson/Sunak governments told Network Rail to cut costs. Guess how.
It’s an arm’s length body for a good reason and that reason is nationalisation is only first part of the fix the second is not letting Whitehall have operational d2d control.
The problem is you can’t do Step 2 until you do Step 1.
Step 2 is the opportunity to integrate, devolve, reorganise and deliver.
Working as intended.
Thatcher caused it
That taking a train, anywhere, never ever enters my considerations anymore.
As to planes...
...what are those?
So my diesel powered car does all the heavy lifting - so much for reducing CO2 emissions.
They were cheap, reliable, on time, clean, and we had Porters and Guards.
Now it’s all about profits, so we’re customers, not passengers.
Should have been a lovely day out. Instead I was shoved, pushed & stood all the way not even in a carriage where I had a seat booked.
Massively late and had to forgo lunch on arrival.
She had ambitious plans to fix the rail and bus system and get more people walking and cycling.
Now she’s been asked to step down 🤔
Foreign Public Owned Rail systems are being supported by ownership of our railways. It must be stopped
Privatisation killed this R&D.

National Rail is the Great British Railway.
It's due to total incompetence on the part of the Lying, Thieving, Cheating Tories & the Tory Tractor Porn Club who have no idea how to pull a Train! When they're not high on Cocaine, that is! 🤧
Massively inefficient, unpopular, dirty and starved of investment.
The part that went wrong this morning is already nationalised. LEt's not pretend changing ownership is going to change much.
I vaguely remember reading about the harebrained scheme behind this bespoke mobile network a while back. Proper rail sector craziness..
It's standardised and widely deployed in many countries so not a symptom of our dysfunctional railways.
Easy - if it’s on the monopoly board it is not a proper or decent business, people running it are not capitalist these are corporate fascists.
Labour's renationalisation delay causes chaos.
So if it is to be nationalised I think it really important that it is done successfully, this time around
It’s the way it’s allowed to run itself, the services, the operations, procurement… etc
It can be done, we just need the political will to make it happen.
Notice how many "technological glitches" we've had in the last 6 months. Trains, airports, etc
LNER was. LMS was possibly.
GWR and Southern were making profit/at least in good financial position.
If someone wants to buy something that they can make a profit from, why would you sell it?
Awful. Don't even mention BR Sandwiches.
That said the wrong solution was adopted as it should never have been sold off.
Can't imagine how much is much when we have Doctors and all allied medical professionals who despite receiving less, out of their sense of duties still plod along!
Everyone deserves a good salary, even you.
