Breaking News: The U.S. is on track for a record decline in homicides in 2023, according to FBI data, after they rose sharply during the pandemic. Many other categories of crime are also in decline.

There's nothing sinister to this, they just equate 'too much' with 'up'.
I have no clue whether the number of school shootings is up or down in 2023. None.
But I'm sure there are too many.

The NYC crime rates are down, with big drops in murder (-11.4%), rape (-10.8%), robbery (-3.6%) and burglary (-13.3%). Shooting incidents are down 24.3%.
I trust the murder stat most of all, because (as per The Wire), you can juke the stats, but you can't make bodies disappear.
