personal issues have worked to prevent passing nominees previously. lack of qualifications usually prevent nominees from reaching this point. I don't think anything stops this except enough Americans voting to rid yourselves of the of the complicit elected public servants that make this inevitable.

To a degree, but there does appear to be an element of the same outrage sound bite approach to rile up the base which has failed so often in the past (see Kavanaugh and even tr*mp) rather than focus on the incompetence. Works for outage and donations, not for results in the same way.

Aside from a probably unhealthy dependence on schnapps recently, the thing that's getting me through the dread of the Trump administration is the fact that most presidents in our history were morons and try as they might, they didn't do as much damage as they wanted to.
