It seems to me - and I could be wrong - that the football family has not embraced @bsky.app yet. If this platform is meant to be an alternative to the other cesspool we should work harder to get more football people and organisations involved.

(1) Agree. What I have observed:
Many accounts from Football bodies not here (like #Aleague teams ones) or difficult to discern whether are official or not (For instance @the-matildas.bsky.social )
Fair point Guido - I think as Vince says, it’ll take a while. I thought Threads was going to take off…but it’s just full of nonsense. Or maybe that’s just my feed! 🤣🤷🏻♂️
I’ve just chosen to miss out on anything happening over there. I don’t know what I don’t know and I’m following enough people I enjoy here that it’s not an issue 🤷♂️
It's the timeline algorithm that sucks with threads. It's impossible to have things live with it, which rules a lot of Sport out. Bluesky is improving a lot, though doing so at a sustainable pace. Native video has only been available for a couple of months. YouTube helps at the moment for long vids.
Also the Content Management Systems that the clubs use to post to socials are only just starting to add BlueSky's API to their systems. Once more have that, you'll see the clubs join.
That’s because most people are still on X. I’ll post here more when that happens. But we’re not there yet. And tbh I don’t think it’s a given that it will happen. Incredibly hard to migrate entire communities — it’ll never be the same here, and that is part of my reluctance.
I can see that and that's why I still look at X. But but for me X it's like a neighborhood that used to be nice but has been bought by an evil property developer who ran it down and now is a bit slummy but can't leave because interesting people and friends still live there.
That's what I think. Then I opened twitter and a mate who barely used twitter before had just tweeted something about alt season and that's enough for me.
You are popular enough to make a difference. Stop tweeting there and it will bring quite a few over
The difference is the point, Vince. The vibe over here is reminiscent of early Twitter & there's a lot of room to grow & get new fans. While Twitter's still useful, some of us are tired of the abuse & threats that are allowed to run unchecked on there nowadays. Having options is healthy for Football
I’m posting on both atm. I like Bluesky. Twitter (still calling it that way lol) is a cesspool. I’m hoping things get even better here but keeping Twitter open until that happens. @bonitamersiades.bsky.social has gone full Monty and deleted her Twitter account to be on here.
Not criticising you buddy, that was just an observation of my own. I've had to deal with death threats and other forms of targeted abuse on Twitter a lot, which Twitter didn't address at all when reported in multiple ways. BlueSky only has 20 employees though are swiftly on top of such issues.
One of the drawbacks is handle verification. @safety.bsky.app are working to address it but for now, I think this is the best solution. Clubs should use their website domains.
I have personally reached out to clubs and individuals about coming across. Some have come over and some are intending to. It’s very new of course so it will take time, change isn’t easy for some as well.
Def better than Threads. Each game gets a few ppl using the hashtag but we need the official accounts to start positing here. Very surprised ppl still post on X tbh.

That could be for many reasons, but I’m gonna guess the incel-ey vibe of X is a big driver in that.
