Unpopular wrestling opinion time, but with a positive twist:
What's something other fans generally dislike but you love?
I'll start. I really liked Cody as a babyface in AEW

Gimme a big sweaty dude yelling gibberish in front of a green screen for 45 seconds over a longggg-uhhhh inring-uhhhhh ramble-uhhhhh any day.
Sorry.
Not posting this to be contrary in any way, this is just the first one I saw where I was like "OMG I haaated that", so I had to like it! ❤️👊
I hope this came across as intended. 😅
People say these matches “have no story” but the promotion is the main character OF the story and they’re all chasing the world title, so at some point they’d have to wrestle.
It's ballsy to do a 90sec squash Main Event on a major PPV but they did it perfectly. Brock was cocky, turned his back while getting up and Bill struck.
(What comes after is another story)
I don’t watch wrestling shows for comedy skits, I watch for the athleticism but sometimes, running with something so dumb it’s funny is needed. They’re not featured on TV enough in my book.
Shoot or not, it did wonders for BOH of them.
His insights and sincerity were wonderful to listen to. Now I really like him!
And who could forget when he cried during All-In when he saw Adam chose MJF over him, and Taven & Bennett tried to console him? Everyone was crying including me!

All right, I'll say it: Matt Taven doesn't deserve hate for his RoH title reign. The man tried!!!
Also I liked Hangman burning down Swerve's house but some folk are just all "it's a crime" and "Hangman was wrong blah blah blah". 😏
I thought he was a good babyface who put on entertaining matches when he wasnt facing the League of Nations, lol.

Rant time 😅 the match was SUPPOSED to be stupid! Jericho’s character at the time was of a man who took himself seriously and as a leader while everyone outside the Inner Circle…
That match was clearly his idea and was MEANT to highlight that he’s an idiot who’s so egotistical that thinks he’s a genius and that all his ideas are amazing!
We were SUPPOSED to all laugh at how ridiculous it all was! Because it was!
I loved it all. 😂
Once Learning Tree Jericho crossed over to being more self-aware, I started finding the act very entertaining and funny.
Paging @simonmiller316.bsky.social
I like Don Callis.
Jericho still cracks me up, too.
Some people love the soap opera aspect of wrestling but to me it's way too much a majority of the time. I love subtle storytelling or just letting the stories tell themselves over time by building history.
FTR apparently, love me some top guys.
He’s not Omega (no one is), but I like What he’s doing. 🤼
I get why people hate them, but I sincerely find them entertaining. I also love when talent finds a creative way to turn them on the fans.
#aew
B. Hanger did nothing wrong and isn’t a bad guy.
C. I still like Chris Jericho.
MJF is right too.
They booked him smarter than heels for the most part, he was willing to fight dirty, they gave him Danielson first. I liked it.
They keep saying he's washed up, that he doesn't put anyone over but that's not true at all; Orange Cassidy, Sammy Guevara, Eddie Kingston, MJF, Action Andretti, and more.
Those guys are over because of Jericho, either by association or wrestling him.
"He was a pretty chill baby, tbh."
yes, he is overhated but he helped elevate stars like take and fletcher, ospreay and Omega, his promos were great.
idk why people hate the faction "oh! the elite is a failure" for me , i loved it , i love how jack perry imporved himself by becoming the scapegoat , i love how okada's jokes make me laugh but he is still my fav, and i love how the young bucks matches are excellent.
so why the hate🤷🤷
I can't get enough of The Learning Tree
Also, Cope is my favourite all-time. So, yeah. Ton of bias in my answer lol
here is one of mine
i sometimes like a triple threat much better than a one on one during a tv show
Mercedes Mone in AEW. I don't understand the hate for her current persona and her matches have been mostly good (except for Britt match).
I loved it. Silly, fun, short, and sweet.
Little did I know what would come out of it...
Spooky bollocks (Lucha Underground may still be one of my favourite wrestling concepts)
Like others, Don Callis (he's effective, you're supposed to hate him)
David Arquette as WCW Champion (I love chaos booking)
Hm…safe answer. I don’t want you getting bothered because of me, lol.
Silly matches. Comedy matches. Novelty matches. Basically slapstick but with a referee to mediate. Give me the silly giggles. It’s entertainment! Entertain me!
For example, I need Gravity to control the gravity during a match
That's why I loved Harleygram. Her taking the mask on and off was like her flickering in and out of reality - like a hologram!
Gravity controlling gravity would be amaaaazing.
(Though I think that was initially because of the chants 😅)
Hyper Misao and Pom Harajuku specialize in goofy matches
People who go that finishers need to be "protected", are the same people that buy into someone being whipped into the ropes, and still bouncing off the ropes to come back to their opponent, people are dumb 😅.
I certainly don't agree with his political views (or rather, his wife's) but he's still entertaining.
Joey Janella and @sonnykissxo.bsky.social could have had such a killer run as a tag team.
2.
SCU should never have been the first tag champs.
Tony fucked them so bad.
We should have had like at least 5 Hangman & Dark Order vs Heel stable matches during that world title run, but instead he just failed both of them.

If they just put him on ROH and presented him as the innovator he is rather than trying to make Trustbusters a thing he’d have done fine.
Just give him 8-15 minutes on ROH with a Lucha or something for a showcase match every week.
He’d have gotten over.
It sets the stage nicely for the episode we’re about to watch and the wrestlers now are so good at conveying emotion without all the yelling.
It’s awesome but I get why people want more wrasslin on a wrasslin show!
Hijack the leadership. Lance Archer takes out Negative One, tells him 'Everybody Dies' and assumes the role as leader with Jake the Snake in his ear. 🐍
And I will not apologize.
Johnny TV was great. Aaron Solo was great. Harley Cameron's was born from QTV!
@andy.wrestlejoy.com loved it, and I did too. But he would talk it up all by himself at times. 😂
It was unapologetically fun and ridiculous.
All my unpopular opinions are negative this is the only positive thing I can remember having a differing opinion of 😂
I f'ing LOVED "Who the hell told you tonight was open mic night bitch?!" Brandi and Jade were freaking awesome against each other and I adored that promo.
I even bought the "good. great. cool." shirt! 🙈
I thought it was perfectly fine & the way the Samoa Joe match went with the betrayal at the end felt like another attempt by MJF to do a "best of" in a sports entertainment style match (similar to the ironman, 4 pillars, and strap match he had done previously).
If it was a bad storyline, nobody would have cared but we were all hooked with our own theories because we cared.
Which is a telltale sign of a good storyline.
You see it all the time.
If that wouldn't have happened, it's entirely possible people would have a completely different feeling on it.
But maybe that's just me!
The fact that we got the Better Than You BayBay run and the All In match is why I will never hate on this feud.
It was a ton of fun until the injuries.
But I cried for a week straight after Adam Cole betrayed MJF and that matters to me more. They got me by the heart more than by the head.
I think it was a great idea for a story that was on complete fire and there’s an alternate reality where nothing went wrong and it was really good.
I think it was worth doing, I also think they should have cut bait sooner than they did.
But it was great until it wasn’t is how I’d describe it.
They couldn't have counted on MJF getting injured in the match. And at that point, what do you do?
we need more of those little tweak of character just for a feud or something.
I loved TNA’s Wrestle House. I think they had a great blend of absolute goofy and serious competition then. Bayley and Sasha carried WWE. Stuff like that.
