There is no world where Canada calms down after we... destroy their independence? And then just joins us in debating policy and voting like everything is normal and fine.

Anyone who thinks we're going to meekly surrender is wrong. Your "president" seems to believe that we'd welcome annexation. He has no idea that the overwhelming majority of Canadians categorically reject the very thought — it fills us with horror — and we will fight.
Please stop talking about the invasion of our northern neighbor like there is some part of it that is not just violence and occupation and abomination.
I think a lot of this attitude is predicated on the fact that many (most) Americans think that Canadians (and most other nationalities) are chomping at the bit to become American. The "America is the Greatest Nation in History" narrative is strong down there even for otherwise intelligent people.
A (former) U.S. citizen I know was initially declined their request to relinquish their citizenship because "everyone wants to be a citizen, and wanting to give it up was an indication of mental defect."
"Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields."
Recently watched the movie “Old Henry”. Us Canadians are the Old Henry’s of the world. Anybody, but anybody, who takes us on will be sorry, & it won’t be pretty.
You hear that popping sound?
That the entire population of Canada losing their health care coverage at once.
We really would rather not be invaded, please and thank you.
I am old enough to remember when Americans deluded themselves they would be "greeted as liberators" in Iraq. They just cannot wrap their heads around the fact that people don't like being invaded.
This article makes it clear that invading Canada would have an insurgency army AT THE MINIMUM 10x the size of the Taliban at the start of that war, for •thousands• of miles next to the USA.
See Benedict Arnold's foray into Lower Canada and the later invasions in 1812, where the US didn't first vastly expand their army because they expected a walkover.
They're so entitled. Like they have some right to discuss another country and its citizens as if we're an object they might want to acquire if they're in the mood. Like it's their right to do so.
People will find a way to justify and then go along with anything, even the non-MAGA crowd. That's what I see with those pundits. They're laying the groundwork for a majority Americans to feel like an invasion of a sovereign country like Canada is justified.
And good luck trying to be on the offensive while trying to defend all that land border plus your coasts. There’s zero chance we stay over here and take it. We have snowmobiles
I have! I was up in Maine last year for work and thought I’d get in a hike-unexpectedly came face to face with one..thankfully it just munched whatever it was chewing as I backed away-massive.
Canadians are *extremely* angry over this. Angrier - and more unified - than I have ever seen my friends and neighbours.
We want Trump barred from the country and refused entry for the G7 meetings in Calgary this summer. It’s serious up here. The relationship is irrevocably damaged.
Ok, Canada now has the possibility to do something very simple: send troops to Ukraine. If there is one thing that would hurt Trump and Putin, it is precisely this. ⛵️
What's not being said here is how many US states would voluntarily pay to leave the United States and become a Canadian province. We need to discuss this more. Canada has a great opportunity to buy some territory right now.
Can we dare hope that Trump has made Canadians understand how Palestinians feel and why they may engage in violence after 77 years of occupation and denial of justice, freedom and basic human rights.
It feels like most of the MAGA fanboys enthusiastically posting about this think it’s equivalent to the video games they spend most of their time playing. They’re eagerly repeating what they think their daddy wants to hear with no understanding of what they’re saying.
Thank you. Everything you’ve said here is true. We Canadians are furious that so few “progressive” USians are speaking out forcefully against this. We will never forget or forgive it. Ever.
The pentagon has a massive budget. If the U.S. cut all its international obligations and its own military bases overseas there’s a huge budget cut, hundreds of millions, just waiting to land in rich white guys pockets.
There is no world where US takes Canada. You will have a civil war first. It has already started in the courts as blue states join together and sue the Feds.
Was just saying the same to my hubby. If I can’t be of use as a soldier, just strap that thing on and wheel me in the right direction. In fact, I think most of us “olds” would rather do that than see our kids/grandkids guerrilla fighting
I’m not a tough guy by any means, but the thought of being an effing American makes me nauseous. Rather go out in a blaze of glory and take out a bunch of their young ones. Hoping that doesn’t become a thing
I think something like 82% of Canadians polled wanted to impose heavier fuel tariffs even if it meant medium to long term recession. You can’t get 82% of Canadians to agree on an all dressed hot dog is (mustard, relish, onions, slaw on a steamed bun (for the record)).

And only Montrealers say ‘all dressed’. I know, surprised me too. Apparently in the outside world they say loaded, or supreme, or with the works. Who knew?

I think: Not good for those guys.

Why has it taken so long for an American voice to speak the truth?
Trump’s ‘joke’ is actually his desire to be exactly like Putin.
#Do not help him make Canada his Ukraine.
Thank you.
People need to look into how notorious Canadian soldiers were in WWI.
Nobody wants what this country has to offer in retaliation.

Thomas Jefferson remarked that the capture of Canada was “a mere matter of marching”. He was wrong.
I don’t think Americans get it yet.

He’ll send their right wingers to the Red States and anyone on the left that wants to join them should
Swap out ideological citizens
What we do have is vast areas of hinterland, troops trained to hide in it, and a population of 40m people already rabidly hostile to Trump
Think Northern Ireland in 1972, x25
