These men see themselves as the sole authority of emotions. Their emotions are always manly, righteous and justified and any contrary emotions to them is therefore a direct attack. The counter attack from these men has no goal other than total annihilation.
That “don’t tell us how to feel” line is such a tell. A weird defensive response that simultaneously wants to deny “feelings” (because they aren’t masculine) and also reclaim them, repeatedly and increasingly more loudly. Because really it’s been their feelings all along.
Too bad there isn’t the Russian version of a hot microphone catching Putin or somebody close to him candidly characterizing Trump as a loud-mouthed weakling.
Manliness has come to mean dominance rather than strength. Dominate the room, dominate the conversation, this is the administration of non-stop domination as governance. Works in Dictatorships but a real sorry state for democracy.
Trump, Vance and the frumpy Marco were the biggest losers. Petty grievances don't govern. Zelensky is already being welcomed at Downing St and by King Charles, highlighting what useful idiots Trump/Vance are to Russia. Meantime, back at home ... GOP voter remorse grows steadily.
Most likely because at his age, he reached andropause and need testosterone injections to get the false impression he is not a decrepit old man of nearly 80... but the impression is dementia is getting closer and closer and will soon have a full grip on him.
It’s an interesting shift from Tony soprano’s longing for a masculinity of having no emotions, Gary Cooper. It’s all emotions, the libidinal pleasure of cruelty and dominance.
Trump is what every wounded creep behind troll social accounts would be if they had the money, the power, and the confidence to constantly lie with a straight face.
I can't think of any bully who *wasn't* sorely mistreated by bullying / neglectful parents; this is true for jdv & djt. So they've bn victims--&, their rage bc of their mistrtmnt fuels prsnt-day abuse of others.
(Fwiw, the lure of politics=being able to harm millions, not just a few in one's life.)
Fascists cast enemies as "at the same time too strong and too weak". On one hand they play up the power of disfavored groups to encourage a sense of grievance and humiliation. On the other hand they point to the "degeneracy" of those groups as proof of their feebleness vs. overwhelming popular will.
Explains the whole "men's loneliness epidemic" right there.
If that's what a "man" is, I don't want one, I don't care how they feel, I'm not fixing it for them like they are demanding, and I hope they go extinct.
Ironically, Zelenskyy has shown himself more of a man than Trump will ever be. Who doubts that if Trump had been in Kyiv on February 24, 2022, he would have accepted the offer to cut and run, and save himself, which Zelenskyy turned down? His leadership is something Trump can't even understand.
There was no moment more extraordinary than, in front of zelensky whose country has been under attack for 3 yrs, Trump wailed for a full minute about how badly he and Putin were treated as he did his Jan Brady "Russia Russia, Russia" whining, Hunter Biden laptop, etc. Genuine mad king stuff.
The point about cruelty is...yeah, that's honestly it. I don't know exactly when manhood became redefined entirely as cruelty, but I can viscerally recall all those moments in my life where it became obvious.
