Did AI write Adrien Brody’s acceptance speech?

“Manliness seems to be all that Trump aspires to: and he defines it, almost exclusively as cruelty. Both on the international stage and on the domestic one, Trump and the crowd of racist, misogynist and endlessly immature idiots”

Idk how to do this but Ukrainian diaspora in US (that doesn't support Trump and russia) needs to start organizing more to advocate for Ukraine. This administration has shown they don't give a shit about us and Ukraine. We should at least somehow put up a fight.

In case I haven’t yet stated this clearly enough here: Ukrainian friends I am with you and I stand with you. Ukraine will be free 💙💛

Zelenskyy defends his sovereign country and citizens against two tag-teaming bullying extortionists and glorified state-mafia bosses. Don’t accept another narrative. It is what is. Just a shameful US policy - thoughtless and counterproductive and one that is no foreign policy at all.

Re: trump yelling at Zelenskyy while russia is actively wiping Ukraine off the map. The absolute brainrot that comes from a worldview that sees people and resources as “deals” to be made on. This behavior and its acceptance naturalizes greed and cruelty- strategic for their authoritarian slop.

who told this pampered asshole he has the right to speak to anyone like this?

In my latest for @kyivindependent.com, I spoke with Senator Bernie Sanders about his concerns over Trump's turn toward authoritarianism, why a US-Russia alliance would be bad for the American people, and why defending Ukraine is defending democracy globally. kyivindependent.com/us-senator-b...

What do right wingers mean/think they mean by “the globalists”? Is this just an antisemitic dog whistle? I keep hearing this.

My first blog for a while! 'Killjoys in Translation' a slightly edited version of the lecture I gave yesterday, dedicated to all the killjoy translators out there. Thank you! feministkilljoys.com/2025/02/27/k...

No idea how much it matters but I broadly feel progressive spaces need to move from “anti war” to “anti invasion” / “anti occupation” etc. “Army bad” is makes a lot of sense if you’re an American protesting the Vietnam war, but it quickly gets weird in 3rd countries calling on victims to disarm.

The uncritical acceptance of the idea that “liberal” women are anti kids is going to make me tear my face off. Bigger problem? A lot of women who want kids can’t find worthy partners. The framing of this shit is always so bad.

Same ❤️

Today marks three years of full scale invasion. In lieu of finding more words to articulate the cost of this war against Ukrainian sovereignty and life- I’ll share a poem by the late Victoria Amelina, who was killed in July 2023 by a russian shell. Trans. by @uilleamblacker.bsky.social

He should have said Ukraine was engaging in too much language policing. Within 24 hours, the Atlantic would publish an article saying he's right.

Not. A. Single. Freaking. Time. Have. They. Trashed. Russia. For. Exterminating. Ukraine. Instead. Of. Blaming. Ukrainians. For. Resisting.

While it’s shocking to think in these terms, it’s clear that their actions so far are genocidal, especially if we’re thinking in terms of administrative violence and how the sudden removal of material systems of support and survival. Cutting off citizens from live sustaining resources = death.

An answer to why my evangelical family members continue to not only make excuses for this administration, but actively believe in its divine authority.

Your periodic reminder that if s.o. wrote handwringing books/articles/Substack posts warning against “woke” and “DEI” over the last five years, THIS WAS WHAT THEY WERE ENVISIONING. This is their project: an illiberal, anti-intellectual state attack on higher education. www.thedp.com/article/2025...

We talk about MAGA disinfo, then people on our side of fighting fascism are still like, Trump is a Russian asset? That sounds too much like a crime thriller, can't be true. Study history from countries occupied by Russia. Buying off corrupt traitors was how Russia ensured help of local collaborators

The right wing woman is not insincere in her politics, but she *is* tactical: she believes that sexual and reproductive service to right wing men will earn her their protection, affection, and material support. She is wrong.

The strategic violence of this trump administration is visible in so many communities and domains, but Ukraine is a particularly painful one for me, and for many people I love who are living there, and who have lived through three years of a full scale invasion and eleven years of war.

So fucking gross

I don’t even know what to say.

This is extraordinary. Ukraine exists after centuries of Russian oppression due to its artists www.nytimes.com/2024/12/04/w...

“Not only are our narratives about Holocaust suffering narratives of Christian redemptive suffering, but our Holocaust memorial sites have become Christian sites of instant redemption.”

Folks are shocked that their institutions, after professing commitments to climate justice and DEI, are now caving to Trump and scrubbing all references. It's brutal. And it's the smallest taste of what our students felt when their universities called in the cops b/c they protested a genocide.

i am going to put a finer point on this: executive orders are not laws. and they certainly are not royal decrees. they are interpretations of existing law for the purposes of enforcement. the fact that so many people are treating them as laws is actually driving me a bit insane.

I am taking time out for writing and research before the launch of No is Not a Lonely Utterance later this year. But I am very glad to be going to this event 'Queer Feminist translation, affect and decoloniality' at Birmingham Uni, Feb 26. Info here! www.queerfeministtranslation.uk/queer-femini...

Butler points out the public demand for the appearance of morality is gone & practice of exposing hypocrisy is not serving those who oppose trump’s sadistic authoritarian power grabs. Recognizing the interdependency of our lives and acting on it holds power. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
