RIP, Val. You are loved and will be missed dearly.
Always admired you in the “Top Gun” franchise as Iceman, the hotshot pilot who went on to become the Admiral in command of the entire Pacific Fleet.
If anyone hasn't seen the biopic of Kilmer, filmed by his son, I highly encourage you to do so! His passion for film and genuine love of acting, his love for family & others is brilliant.
I saw it referenced in a few other places. Quite sad but I know he has had some tough health issues. I never met him but love his acting.
Oddly, one of his co-actors (Michelle Meyrink) in Real Genius was my acting coach for a several years.
I had me a feeling he was ill when watching Top Gun Maverick. I love the original and that film but will try to watch more of his movies on his memory. RIP Val ❤️
RIP Iceman. When I was pregnant with my son, my husband and I couldn’t agree on a name. I was watching Top Gun and joked that we should name my son Iceman. We landed on Maverick, but if it wasn’t for you, he might not have been epically named. Thank you. Rest easy now.
It seems Thunderheart was released too long ago for fans to remember. It’s still one of his best - an eye-opening thriller about revealing the ignorance and injustices against indigenous peoples.
My favourite performance! Val. "sob" Way back when, I worked with one of the costumer / prop masters for Tombstone. They lent me his maroon vest (featured in this GIF) and a hat (dressed my beau as Doc for Halloween) along with a pearl-handled prop gun, and yes, one of his tiny tin cups.
I produced Slab Boys on Broadway in 1983 with Val, Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon and, among others, Jackie Earle Haley. Val’s paramour at the time was Cher. Val was a total pleasure. We stayed in touch over many years.

Rest In Peace
Legend!!
RIP 😢
RIGHT??
May Val rest in poet's heaven, if there is one.
He should have won an Oscar for his portrayal of Doc Holiday in Tombstone. 🏆
In hindsight I realize he played his character flawlessly; that’s why I hated him so much.
RIP Mr Kilmer; I take back my teenage critique.
They never knew Hippies and Punk Rock
Never had 1980s fun of Animal House and Cheech and Chong partying
The Second Summer of Love and rave / festival freedom
Birth of rap and Public Enemy and Beastie Boys
The Grunge of the 90s with stoner rock
We had it good
Sad he went through what he had to in the final years...but what an amazing innings!!
