I see debates about whether a film has the right to not be subtle (in this case, Mickey 17 and The Substance), while for six years I've had people who don't understand the messages conveyed by SW, Starship Troopers, Star Trek...
Subtlety or lack of it is just a choice, it's the result that counts.

Same for slowness, or length. When it's how the slowness or length of these films is used. I often read people who regret them, when what matters is that the film is good for me. Slowness, length, and subtlety are not criteria in themselves.

Absolute youtube essay mindrot.
Where's the art police on this one? Who enforces the subtlety laws?
It's art. It doesn't owe you rights 😭

But now idiots want to live in 40k.
Just as it takes wisdom to correctly interpret wisdom, it too takes subtlety of thought to appreciate the subtle.
But if you don't see, you don't see.
Hearing for the 1st time what transpired after the movie concerning its messages on fascism left me gobsmacked.
Why can't we have good things, seriously ?
Proudly anti-communist, Heinlein was angry about the United States ending nuclear testing, and wrote the novel in 3 weeks to express his feelings about the 'weak' Eisenhower administration.
STBY is great, by the way.
