There's a layer to it that I respect. I want the Cubs to win - AND WIN NOW DAMN IT - and Jed very well may lose his job if they don't. But he's still just going to stick to his long-term building approach, so I guess at least we know he wouldn't torch the farm system on the way out the door?

I think what we’re kind of learning, and it would be admirable in a way if it didn’t annoy the shit out of me, is that Jed Hoyer gives exactly ZERO shits about external pressure. He doesn’t care one iota about being on the hot seat. He’s going to execute his plan no matter what.
