Yes. Once the Soviet Union applied the Zhdanov Doctrine (which initially applied to artists and writers) to scientific publications, many of their top scientists defected to the West.
Because RFK Jr has been using this debunked bull as 'evidence' for his entire "vaccines cause autism" thing since way back then. And his supporters don't seem to bother checking the source. And don't much like when we provide them with it either. :/

IME when someone says 'we don't know what causes autism' they usually haven't grappled in any serious way with just how many different things get called "autism."
It's not one thing; it won't have one cause. & in the vast majority of cases, it's only a problem because it gets treated like one.
No one else in my family is autistic at all it seems. My parents, my grandparents, my sister. None of them are like me in any way and have stated they have not much in the way of behavior that is autistic-like. So I dunno where I came from. :O
I did mention grandparents 😋 From what I recall about my great grandparents nothing particular there. I'm first in my family to be diagnosed autistic and since my parents knew nothing about autism I wasn't diagnosed til 35 after 15 years of being passed around by doctors. Still waiting on ADHD list

There's a Wikipedia entry about her, but it doesn't say much about what she's up to now. She still hosts a show and has a side gig hawking vegan makeup. It appears that she doesn't talk about autism or vaccines much, if at all.
Meanwhile I have anti-vaxxers arguing with me that children’s vaccines contain hcg in order to decrease pregnancies when they grow up. The level of sheer willful ignorance is staggering.

It's not enough to simply say that it was disproven and retracted.
1) His own lab found proof his "findings" were fiction and he had made things up
2) In his study he put kids through painful experiences knowing it was nonsense.
3)
3) He failed to disclose that he'd been paid by parents with a lawsuit against the MMR vaccine
and most damningly
4) He specifically claimed that the MMR vaccine was dangerous BECAUSE it was a vaccine for 3 viruses at once. Meanwhile he was filing a patent for a vaccine for JUST Measles.
A patent that was worthless in a world where the MMR one was everywhere, but if people stopped using THAT vaccine he stood to make a fortune.
He wasn't just "scientifically wrong," he deliberately committed fraud to sabotage public health with the clear goal of personal enrichment. He's a monster.
