A reminder to new/returning users:
IF YOU LIKE AN ARTISTS WORK, BOOST IT!
There isn't the same kind of algorithm as on Twitter. Engagement is the ONLY way to be seen and help the artists you love.
Boosts and comments help - liking custom feeds does, too!

(Joking aside even just goofs like this are great :3 💖)
I'm glad people resonated with this and that it can encourage others to interact and reach out to each other ^^ remember, we all deserve to flourish and not flounder - be kind to each other and support your peers! 👌💖

Remember to add Alt text! You don't have to be perfect.
Users have made curated lists to make it easier than ever to mass mute or block Terfs, Zoophiles, Nazis, AI shills and more. It may not be perfect, but it will certainly help, and there's more being made and updated all the time.
Have fun! Interact with people!
Community is built through connection, not mindless consumption.
If you yearn to have meaningful interactions with people, step one is being unafraid to look a little silly in their notifs.
To be part of a community, you have to engage with it, etc!

My art gets lots of likes but the feed ain't feeding. I guess people don't understand it as much
People don't realize that by liking a feed it does nothing for them, but everything for the artist by boosting that artists likelihood of getting their feed seen in the recommended feeds tab. 😭 it's SO HELPFUL and takes one click!
Pinning the feed keeps it easily accessible for you on desktop or in app, at the top of to the right.
Saving the feed means you follow and can find it in your feeds list normally.
*Liking* it boosts it in the recommended feeds section!
My art feed for example, uses any of my posts with the mushroom emoji to filter those posts into the feed.
Makes it easy for people to find JUST my art posts, so long as I remember the emoji :]
There's large feeds users have made for different topics that you can subscribe to and participate in, also! Public feeds for art or otherwise.
Hashtags and keywords are interchangeable most of the time, btw!
Much of the world itself operates on these kinds of principles - I trust you and others to respect me, and I respect you in turn, and hope that respect and faith isn't misplaced.
I have a hard time reading tone at times so I'm sorry if this is much more genuine/honest response than you needed! I feel we may be having a little miscommunication of a sort but I'm not sure how, if so, my bad <:o
And for the record, your virtues aren't in vain here, I trust you too, and I appreciate the advice ^^
Most people I've seen (me included) are using something called Skyfeed. There may be easier ways to put them together, but tbh I'm not an expert! This is a solid place to start, though!
Gonna check something else
in bluesky, go to your settings
scroll down to advanced
click app password
voila you can generate one there for use with skyfeed or whatever else!
They're doing a bad job!
If you see something cool, give it a <3 !
it truly helps.
and always remember, Sharing is caring :D
However, people can also provide alt text in the comments if it's forgotten, or ask someone to do it if they can't.
As an artist, its kind of important to know there's people who would like to enjoy my art, who maybe aren't getting the full experience because of that!
Screen readers can read the alt text you add and allow them to better understand and engage with posts that have it!
Twitter punishes people for casual and friendly engagement - but on bluesky thats really the only way to grow...through mutual support and community :] its more fun that way anyhow!
We gotta break outta our shells here, folks 🔥🔥🔥
Twitter just is so huge, so a Larger "audience" has a larger chance for at least one of those people to break free of the shy streak and say something.
Everyone is afraid to look a little foolish. But imo, that's the best way to make friends and connections LOL
It's all relative, I guess. 🙂
If all you want is to connect or weigh-in where you can, comments are great! :D
It's just that, between the smaller follower counts here compared to Twitter and, with that being said, even fewer likes/reposts within communities here, it can kinda look like a ghost town sometimes. 😅
Before I was struggling to be seen :')

I've heard similarly for cosplayers - I think there's been a large push for people to set up their own infrastructure for supporting 2D artists, but there's been less for irl crafters/makers/cosplayers/etc. This helps, though!
