In his more postmodern works like V. and Crying of Lot 49, yeah. Especially the latter. The whole theme of that book (if there even is one) is that trying to make sense out of nonsense only contributes to the entropic nature of the universe, and smart people who read into things too much are idiots
I feel like they’re deliberately chosen in order to make the reader think the names have greater symbolic significance than they actually do. Especially in The Crying of Lot 49
