actually having adhd is losing jobs & relationships & having people yell at you "why are you like this" & ending up isolated & suicidal. it ain't fuckin' cute ffs
sorry but it is annoying how any time u have a lot of people see a post describing normal human behavior someone inevitably jumps in to say u actually have adhd
As someone with adhd i wish i had the kind of improvisation and executive function it would take to go out on the town and not really knowing what I'm gonna do when I get there. I get so overwhelmed just deciding where to eat and then i need to exhaustively research the menu.
the all time great on this one was still the person earnestly claiming "theyd just found out enjoying masturbation so much was an autistic thing" on twitter. A whole day of people going "But I love jerking it, omg I'm autistic!!!"
also the people who say "doctors will say this is autism" have clearly never talked to doctors whose job it is to tell you if you have autism or not, and have VERY specific criteria they ask you about, for hours at a time!
I don't think that one's wrong. I am pretty constantly overwhelmed, because my brain is literally doing too much. Paying attention to tiny details that most people tune out.
But that doesn't mean that being constantly overwhelmed means you have ADHD. You might just be under too much stress.
That is very true. Underestimation is often one of the less understood parts of our experience. It's why I need music or background noise of some sort in order to be productive.
Went there for advice and got hit with a load of self help advice I'd expect from a Joe Rogan podcast rather than a place supportive of people who struggle with a disability.
