If you're getting into boardgames the absolute top recommendation is always think about who you will play a game with before you buy it. No point in getting it if you'll never get it to the table.

Splendor is my Wine & Cheese Night game. Easy to learn, good strategy, high replay value.

Cash & Guns is a fantastic party game. Bit of bluffing and comes with props.

Lanterns is a tile matching game similar to Carcassonne (another great game) and PRETTY. See also: Azul

I'm a regular board gamer! Some of my favourites are Cascadia, 7 wonders (and its Duel version), White Castle and Marvel Champions.

Dune Imperium and Spirit Island are excellent, but maybe a bit overwhelming for new players. They have cheap digital versions you can use to learn on Steam though!

Oh gosh, ok. Forbidden Island/Desert, Patchwork, Mandala, Azul, Sagrada. I think those are all 2-player and up. There's a good website/YouTube channel called Shut Up and Sit Down that reviews boardgames so you could have a look there and see if anything piques your interest 😊

Dominion is one of my favorite tabletop card games! Dead of Winter and Betrayal at House on the Hill are also pretty fun if the table gets into it and doesn’t mind betrayal mechanics.
