In Boulder our PD did not have much experience w/murder cases. Her death was our first murder case for that year - it was 12/26. What is encouraging is Boulder PD taking the opp to rerun the DNA against Genealogy data banks (how BTK killer was caught). Here in Boulder we are crossing our fingers.
The investigations were botched from the beginning. But people with nothing to hide would be running to the police and shouting everything they knew from rooftops, not clamming up. I still remember this haunting article from Vanity Fair in 1997. https://archive.vanityfair.com/article/1997/10/missing-innocence
The weirdest thing to me, if I remember correctly, is that the ransom note says that the kidnappers would call at 10 AM or something, but the time came and went and despite all the people and police in the house, no one mentioned it or was waiting for the phone to ring, said an officer present
The dad also said in an interview with crime junkie that it said “10am tomorrow” so he wasn’t sure if it meant tomorrow as in the day after the note was written or tomorrow as in the day after they found the note so when the call didn’t come he figured it would come the next day.
Idk I used to think that but the fact the dad was so involved in this doc allllll these years later & has never hurt anyone since makes me feel they didn’t. The show really touches that the cops just wanted the parents & made up lies & withheld info from the public to make us all believe
I haven’t finished so idk where they are heading. But as of the 1st ep/1/2 2nd ep they had no new info that the father would need tk get ahead of. If anything shows weird choices made all around & another example of cops wanting to wrap the case up not follow the evidence 🤷♀️
Agree about the mom back then & up till this doc. I haven’t finished it yet tbh- but stuck by how visible the dad was in this. If you have something to hide why be part of it. There’s enough footage out there to be used. Plus the police were AWFUL they wanted the parents & lied a lot
Some asshole in Boulder. Boulder PD completely fucked up the case by fixating on the family and not connecting the case to other local assaults. And they shoulda found her body within minutes of entering the home. Fuck ups all around.
I thought it was the brother, then I watched the Netflix doc last night which was absolute Ramsey propaganda nonsense, then I listened to an older podcast about it tonight and now I think it was Patsy.
John Ramsey is trying to get Boulder PD to test the DNA and do a reverse family tree to see if the killer had family in Boulder in 1996. John is 80 now, likely his last try at this.
I just don't know anymore. I was in the "she peed the bed and angry Patsy struck her and she fell" camp for many years. But, I used to work with a man who worked with John, who swore John did it. I don't get why John would still be doing this at 80. He's not running from the law. He was exonerated.
3 explanations I can come up with: 1) A sadistic pedophile who was obsessed with Jonbenét broke in and killed her 2) A psycho who hated the Ramseys and tried to frame them 3) Burke, in a rage, cracked her skull, and Patsy covered it up. Lastly, I really don’t think John Ramsey was involved at all.
Outsider. Watch enough crime documentaries and you can see that some of these rapist / murders are good at lying in wait and committing their crimes. Canada had one that would break into the home and wait for hours. CeCe Moore with Parabon labs offered to assist. Colorado needs to let her work it.
If you are referring to Paul Bernardo, he was denied parole and day pass access just today. The risk he represents to Cdn society is still too high and he appears unremorseful according to the parole board in denying him parole a third time.
Thank goodness he was denied parole. But the one I was thinking of was Col. Russell Williams and specifically his victim Corporal Marie-France Comeau. But that’s just one of many examples.
Yes! Just horrendous all round. A disgrace to the uniform. It goes to show that anyone - anyone - can be damaged beyond comprehension yet live a seemingly “normal” life, security checks and all.
I cannot get past that ransom note. Who writes a multi page ransom note at the location with the entire family upstairs sleeping? Plus, you write a long ransom note and then just leave the body in the basement? Why?
We'll probably never know for sure, but on a related note, it's wild that over two decades later, Lin Wood, the high profile attorney who represented the Ramsey family in several defamation cases, was reduced to helping Donald Trump try to overturn the 2020 election.
This. It wasn't the brother or parents. I mean there is straight up unidentified DNA. I think they'll figure it out with that DNA genealogy stuff they have now
Why? Ask any teacher of 4th graders if they have a student w/ uncontrollable rage and lacking impulse control. Add in typical sibling rivalry supercharged by the supersized obsession with one child being the center of so much attention. A 9 yo is certainly capable of accidental murder in a rage.
He was ruled out by people actually investigating the crime for one, but for second the crime scene wasn’t one of sudden rage and impulse control of a child. Watch the Netflix documentary it makes a pretty clear case it wasn’t the family 🤷♀️
The link won’t work for me. The only thing I have trouble with is that his baby was experimented on. I think he had it kidnapped & killed in a way that no abnormalities could be detected.
Why is that funny? There is a very large amount of evidence that Lindbergh had it done. It doesn’t take much digging.
The guy had a secret life. Multiple families, Hitler pal, intolerance of “defective” children, etc.
There is a really good book called "A Small Foreign Faction," written by the local police chief and it is abundantly clear that it was either the mother, the father, or the brother. IMO it was probably an accident. But There. was. no. intruder.
If an accident, why the sexual assault? I would agree it was an accident but the trauma to her body in that regard makes me think it’s a pedo that testing the DNA again may reveal.
Probably it was an accident and the rest was to cover it up. There are worse possibilities but I really hope not. It's just not remotely feasible that there was any intruder. I don't want to get into all the reasons but if you are curious you might read that book. He explains it very well.
The dna found on her clothes doesn’t match anyone from the family. It was probably a pedophile who targeted her from their Christmas party or from pageants. There was another attempted kidnapping of a little girl in the community around the same time.
An intruder - too many ‘similar’ crimes in the area. He/she/they had hours waiting in the house - took time writing the ransom note - just playing with their victim. Not parents or brother - wouldn’t leave body there to be found - no motive.

and now he's getting appointed to trump's cabinet.
Patsy was involved in some manner.
It’s nearly certain, to be anyway, Patsy wrote the ransom note
The various opportunistic law enforcement had me raging. Patty deserved better.
No wait MTV killed the radio star, never mind
No. No, we didn’t.

Moving on, here’s a picture of my cat.
