Is that where the reporter then fell to the floor gasping because they were choking from laughing so much over a congenital liar who was convicted of 36 counts of fraud calling himself an honest man?
Using a sports analogy here. He couldn’t hold Adam’s jock strap. John Adams was the underrated father of our country. Hyper intelligent, extremely well read and valued the advice of his wife which was not usual at the time. Not surprised he has no clue who Adam was.
The word "honest" is very telling here. He could have just said "men like me", but he knows he needs to put in the word "honest", because he knows that if he doesn't specify it, nobody (including himself) would associate that word with him.
This exchange also shows the deranged pathology of the Trump-era MSM. Like, why not ask the obvious follow-up, “Are you not aware which of these men is John Adams? Do you know who John Adams is?”
They don’t ask because they’re uncomfortable knowing what the answer might be.
The reason why I'm making such a point of this is that not knowing who John Adams is, or what government by laws means, is just Trump being ignorant &/or stupid.
But not knowing where the painting is? When the reporter said where it is? And it's in that room? That's a huge sign of dementia, y'all.
The fact that Trump is always very supervised & catered to, 24-7, has made it difficult for psychiatrists like me to convince people that he's demented. As well as the fact that being stupid & stubborn & obnoxious are very different from the progressive brain damage of dementia.
I’ve suspected it especially with his family history of family members having Alzheimer’s or Dementia (father, mother, older sister, uncle).
And when they projected onto Biden, I knew it was true…. I called it the Reagan Redux cuz
Reagan had Alzheimer’s when he ran in 1984 & gop covered it up.
Yeah he is being entirely honest here about how he's killing us. "Nation of laws" was always aspirational rather than descriptive, and a lot of people forgetting the difference is part of how the Republicans get away with so much.
Not sure I agree with all of that but I've said for a long time that Trump is surprisingly honest about what he thinks and how he intends to act, if people care to listen.
What's lacking is Trump's understanding of what an ideal is and the practical function it serves. You have a good point, though; all the way until "like me," it's a fine observation.
I agree. I was noting that Trump does not seem to understand why someone would say "laws not men" other than not knowing that people implement the law.
What's incredible about it? That he's dumber than a root vegetable? That he hates American values? That he has no idea of his surroundings? All of that is well known.
He knows zero about democracy but whenever someone tries to teach him about it he either recoils or doesn’t understand it. It’s a genuinely foreign concept to him.
I'm sure have gave "answers" like this when he was at undergrad at Penn, and it must have taken all of his professors' inner strength to not just punch him squarely in the face.
This reminds me of when someone said the final decision was his and he looked around the oval office and said, you're right, no corners to hide in here. Or something to that effect.
Unclear why this is remarkable. All he does is lie or make things up, usually both, as he goes along. Nothing different here that I see. He's an expert pathological liar, an imbecile with one skill: knows how to weasel out of any situation, and the media is always cowardly & deferential. Win-win. 🤷♂️
No it’s entirely consistent with everything he’s ever said. HE administers the law, so it’s a government of men. Or more specifically, of Trump.
Also, right after this interview Trump probably yelled, “Why the f*ck didn’t you tell me Adams said we have a government of laws not men? Take it down!”
He doesn't understand the concept of rule of law, so he diverts to doublespeak. The old "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit."

Never in the history of the USA has there been a more mendacious public servant. Never.

It would be hilarious if he wasn't the actual president and just played one on TV.
Oh wait...

Forget which painting is Adams & whether Trump knows who Adams is. He doesn't even follow a reference to item X behind them, asking "Where was X?"
But not knowing where the painting is? When the reporter said where it is? And it's in that room? That's a huge sign of dementia, y'all.
This important point should appear in every discussion of Trump's mental-health issues.
And when they projected onto Biden, I knew it was true…. I called it the Reagan Redux cuz
Reagan had Alzheimer’s when he ran in 1984 & gop covered it up.
If he's even the person who made the choices, what do you want to bet he picked based on frames or what looked strong/cool?
Trump says, "Where was the painting?"
Wow. Just wow.
Also, right after this interview Trump probably yelled, “Why the f*ck didn’t you tell me Adams said we have a government of laws not men? Take it down!”
“Grandpa - do you have to pee?"
“No... why?"
“Because your chair’s all wet."
“Oh... well, maybe."
(But also "where was the painting." 🤦🏻♂️😵💫)
