This right here is what's wrong with this country in general. - no empathy. 401(k)s were foisted on people. Prior to the 80s they weren't a normal thing. They became "normal" by removing pensions and slashing savings account returns. And they weren't designed to people's main retirement vehicle

I have no sympathy for people who don't do their research. It's not rocket science; indexed mutual funds are easy to understand.
