I am so sick of everything being filtered through a male lens. As a historian, I spend so much time sifting through obfuscation after obfuscation, only to see it accelerating in my own time.

As a male historian I get what you mean. Up to now history was male dominated. Iβm encouraged to see a growing number of female historians, good ones too.
People should know by now, women have bigger balls than men. Men are weak. If you can find one whose ass does more work than his mouth, marry that one.
Natania, not to worry. MAGA is working to make it so you can't vote again, and I'm sure they will make sure it can't be undone by not allowing women see, hear, or say anything again unless it is prescribed by the always correct white husband.
I hope its not the case, but it seems that's their goal.
yes! also the presumption of cisness and the presumption of heterosexuality have both done so much to erase trans and queer people from history, itβs maddening
As a men, I also hate this. Historians fall all over themselves to find a reason why a thing they're seeing doesn't match their bias. "These two women on this egyptian painting are depicted in a way typically only seen for married couples. WhAt CoUlD iT mEaN?"It means the women were married, dingus.
So this particularly gets my goat with regards to celtic/viking* culture, since that's my lineage and my daughter was definitely a shield maiden in a former life. There was this grave found that every historian agreed was clearly that of a great warrior.

Weapons arrayed around the body, all the signs of a warrior buried with their tools. Then DNA analysis showed it was a woman. And suddenly all these men were all "well, I bet it was, like, a warrior's wife or something" because the well-documented history of danish women warriors just wasn't enough.
You should check out @moudhy.bsky.social Dr. Moudy Al-Rashid teaches the history of science in Mesopotamia and researches cuneiform. She has a new book called "Between Two Rivers". Also check out @farhanasultana.com. Dr. Sultana edited "Confronting Climate Coloniality" and it's a great read.

Misogyny and patriarchy run deep in our culture.
I guess... it's a sign of how much American men in power respect women
Is the ERA ratified yet?
I mean, really...
Remember, the American white men in power gave the vote to their feed black male slaves 50 years before they allowed women to vote
I hope its not the case, but it seems that's their goal.
